Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format (PDF) is a cross-platform file format designed for the easy exchange of documents and has become the defacto standard on the web. You can view and print these files using the free Adobe Acrobat Reader software which is available for a range of platforms (Windows, Macintosh, UNIX) and in a number of languages. Click on the icon to download it direct from Adobe's site.

Adobe Acrobat Reader includes plug-ins designed to work with recent versions of Netscape and Microsoft browsers (your browser may already have this feature as standard) as well as a standalone application for offline use.

With a plug-in PDF files can be viewed directly in your browser simply by clicking on the PDF file icon.

To deliberately save a PDF file to your computer, click on the icon using the right hand mouse button on a PC or hold down the CTRL key and click the mouse button on a Mac. Choose Save Link As, Save Target As or Save As from the menu which appears.

Please note that PDF files can be quite large due to embedded graphics and fonts and may take a while to download depending on the speed of your connection.
